Mobile Baykeeper, based in Mobile, Alabama, Providing citizens a means to protect the beauty, health and heritage of the Mobile Bay Watershed, Alabama's waterways and coastal communities. The Volunteer Field Observer Program was established with our partner organization, Alabama Coastal Foundation, whose mission is to improve and protect the quality of Alabama’s coastal resources by identifying and solving problems through education, information and participation. Lower Mississippi Riverkeeper, Paul Orr, is based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The Lower Mississippi Riverkeeper works to preserve and restore the ecological integrity of the Mississippi River Basin and the surrounding waterways in Louisiana. Louisiana Bayoukeeper, Tracy Kuhns and Mike Roberts, is based in Barataria, Louisiana. The Louisiana Bayoukeeper works closely with coastal communities in Coastal Louisiana's Bayou Country to promote sustainable management of its local waterways and natural resources. Apalachicola Riverkeeper, Dan Tonsmeire, is based in Apalachicola, Florida. The Apalachicola Riverkeeper monitors the Apalachicola from the Florida/Georgia line downstream 108 miles to the estuary and Bay on the Gulf. Particular attention is paid to reductions in life-sustaining freshwater, loss of floodplain habitat, point and non-point source pollution, and explosive growth and development in this region. Emerald Coastkeeper, Sava Varazo, is based in Pensacola, Florida.
